About Kaup and Pender

Joan Kaup and Rick Pender first met at Downtown Cincinnati Inc. when Kaup was vice president of marketing and Pender was an executive counselor with Dan Pinger Public Relations. Kaup subsequently moved to the Greater Cincinnati Convention and Visitors Bureau, while Pender’s strategic counsel was focused on Jewish Hospital and the Health Alliance. But we kept running into one another at community events, lectures, workshops, museums and especially the theater, thanks to Pender’s role as a critic for CityBeat. Eventually, the light bulb went on, the commitment made and Kaup and Pender joined forces.

As Kaup Pender clients, you have access to seasoned marketing, publicity, writing, planning, strategy, managing and creative counsel. The sum, as they say, is greater than its parts.

Our real interest and passion is for our community and client projects and progress.

"Ms. Kaup is an advocate for the arts, tourism, small business, and
creative solutions to increase the worth of our city. She has a passion
for making Cincinnati a creative city through the renaissance in our
urban core. She is bright, energetic, thoughtful and persistent.
She listens, works well with others, and follows through."

Jim Tarbell, Former Vice Mayor
Cincinnati City Council
